i made a calendar (badly planned and with not enough time. but i did)

on November 25th, 2025 i had a thought. what if i put my guy cool cat in a situation for every month of the year? what if i make a calendar. can't be that much work. can't take too long. well.

why does it take one million years to draw and layout twelve images plus cover? who knows. the important thing is that i did it and got it done almost on time.

the calendar on my wall. i really like this cover.

i love it a lot, it turned out so cute and the colours especially printed unexpectedly well. who knew an office printer could produce a purple like that!

but i also did not plan this thang well at all. for one, i bought paper in an incorrect format. in my defense, it said A4 on the product. turns out those measurements included the cutoff (like the section of a ringbound sketchpad that is wound up on the rings so there are a bunch of holes in it and also it's separated from the rest of the sheet with a perforated line, it is intended to be discarded). that was foul. especially because i spent nine hours at uni on December 30th scanning and editing these drawings and getting everything ready for print, only to realise i had the wrong paper. crashout. i could've been at home doing all that. whatever. i came back the next day after making use of my fleeting employee discount at [generic stationary and art supply store] and printed my things. naturally, the printer was acting up too. paper jams, misprints, things that happen when you feed 200g paper to an office printer and tell it to print large areas in full colour. whatever. i lived.

what i also neglected was to account for binding and holes for mounting, so when i came home 5pm on new years eve i sat there with my all printed out stack of paper, going through three to five rounds of trial and error to figure out how to do all that. took me a couple days to get there. but i did, in the end. it's cute. and i'm running out of little artists' clips.

here are all the pages:

june is probably my favourite. the vibes....

the drawings themselves i made pen to paper without sketches, as is custom with my cool cat drawings. this is always very fun, you have to be okay with it being wonky and at the same time you learn to be confident with your lines and develop a sense for spacing and composition. a nice side effect is that you don't have to deal with retouching scans to remove any sketch residue.

but yeah, for next time, if a next time shall come, i know to give myself more time and plan better. everything is a learning curve.

for now, i made six of these (plus a big one for myself) and gave them to my friends and everyone liked them. #yay
