The Becoming (the vampire short story from last year that i finally illustrated)

i keep making things. last year, during my work on The Bite, my editorial uni project about vampires, i wrote a short story about the painful physical process of turning into a vampire, and very early on i started to want to illustrate it. but for a long time, i couldn't quite figure out a style -- or, the hazy, naturalistic style i had in mind for it wasn't really one i was very good at drawing in. so i didn't think about it for a while, instead focusing on other things. finally, in late july, i had a flash vision of something collaged and thought, well yes. why not collage? so i made some collages. and now it exists in real life.

i wasn't quite happy with how the initial print of my latest uni comic came out. the paper i used is too cold a white, the green, which i printed digitally for (apparent) lack of a forest green for our riso (turns out we do actually have that, it just wasn't included on the colour overview i was given), turned out too dark and totally overpowered the black in some places, and the riso-black couldn't hold properly on the digitally-printed areas (and the paper generally, it seems), so it turned out sort of pale. plus, i wasn't really happy with the title font.

last year around christmas, i was missing my friend and drew a comic on the train about it, and then i never coloured it. well, on friday night, i coloured it. so here it is:

early last month, i thought, frenzied, that i need to do more collages, so i resolved to start making little folding zines of collages, so that i'd do like 3 to 8 collages a month. here are the ones i did in march (and on tuesday):

at last, my uni comic

this last thursday, i finished printing a first edition of my uni comic, The Infinite Search for a Place to Belong. i got quite emotional looking through the printed sheets of this thing that i spent the past four months working on. i made this and now it's real. and you can read it (or give me 3€ for all my hard work and then read it). and i'm gonna tell you all about it now.

a few weeks ago, i went to a birthday and there was a game of kahoot and my teammate won for us, and i -- undeserving -- got half of the prize. a truly horrible notebook (and some stickers):

hourly comics 2026 (+ introducing my darling SONY CFM-10)

noone ever tells you when hourly comics day is. last year, i finally deduced the date to be february 1st and put it in my calendar. if this is wrong, do not tell me lest i end up on the news. anyway. yesterday, i did finally, after years of missing it, do my hourlies like a good online artist.

on November 25th, 2025 i had a thought. what if i put my guy cool cat in a situation for every month of the year? what if i make a calendar. can't be that much work. can't take too long. well.
