animating again (and things that happened this week)

i've started animating again.

the animation is for waterparks' RED GUITAR, which is a song i have been obsessed with since i first listened to it back in early march so i could sing along at the parx show i went to. it's really good and i think you shouldn't listen to it yet and instead wait for the album to come out on july 24th. at least personally i wish i could do that -- listen to the album unspoilered. but alas. being able to sing along at shows is more important.

for a while now, i've been seeing myself animating the second verse, just cause the back and forth between awsten and his younger self seemed fun to do. and i wanted that fisheye shot on the WOAH.

so this is what i got after a sketching sesh in ms paint and a jarring amount of time spent timing all of that in movie maker (just like i used to do it... [x] [x])

 

it's a gif because idk abt just putting copyrighted music on here. you'll just have to imagine. put the song on loop for two months until you can recite it from memory, if that helps.

it's obviously just an animatic rn and prolly i'll never finish it but it's nice to get the idea out of my system.

other things i did this week were:

basically finished my uni comic. had a final feedback session with my prof today and he had near zero notes. i love my fake university course <3 anyway, this comic is gonna be saurrr gorgeous and also i wanna kill myself a little bit if i start thinking too much about how on display my soul is in it -- i'll talk more about that when i do the dedicated comic post.

straight up finished my comic club comic and quite happy with that too. it's about rituals and here is the cover art:

since the comic is for an anthology, the first version is for the inside, for right before the comic, and the second is a variant for the magazine cover. i'm really pleased with how this came out, but to be fair, i did straight up steal reference that one Midsommar (2019) poster.

i finally quit my tabletennis club membership after months of not really having the time or energy to go to practices a lot. plus, i'm going away for my internship in the fall, so i won't be able to go for that time anyway. i am free from athletic responsibilities once again.

picked up The Shepherd, a comic project of mine that's been on the shelf since last winter pretty much, again today and wrote some stuff down. mostly transferring ideas/notes i had written in a notebook to my google doc, but this got the creative engines running and i got some new ideas out of it as well. it's beginning to take a slightly more solid form now.

ok enough. my eyes want to be closed and i have to get up early tomorrow. rest easy, my friends.
